Institute of Asian Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University will host an International Conference Prospects for the development of Diaspora Studies in the era of globalization, transnationalism, and digitalization on October 28th (29th), 2022.
In the era of globalization, the issues of population migration and, as a result, the formation of new ethnic communities in the host countries are particularly acute. In the 21-st century, the processes of diasporization have significantly accelerated and become more complex, and therefore new approaches, methods, and concepts in Diaspora Studies are relevant.
We encourage submissions on the following 4 topics:
The Organizing Committee accepts applications for initiative sections as well. Consequently, the proposed section should have a moderator and 4 speakers at least.
In case of the formation of additional sections, the Conference will continue on October 29, 2022.
The Conference’s Papers are planned to be edited and published online.
Ph.D. students, undergraduates, and students are welcome for participation in the Conference.
Deadline for Submissions: June 15, 2022.
The Conference will be held in Russian and English (with translation).
If you are interested, please send a proposal including the following elements: (1) the title of the presentation, (2) an up to 350–word abstract of the research/paper, (3) 5-6 keywords, (4) the author’s current CV as a single WORD file to:
The organizing committee has the right to accept/reject the applications. The selection will be made until July 30, 2022.
The transportation and other expenses are to be paid by Participants.
